EFT and Acupuncture Meridian Charts

An acupuncture meridian chart is included here to demonstrate a few things about the use of these points for acupressure usage:

  1. All EFT tapping points used during energy psychology therapy are actually classic acupuncture points.
  2. Acupuncture points run from the hands and feet up to the top of the head, as well as the opposite direction from the top of the head to the hands and feet.
  3. Acupuncture points are interconnected at the fingertips and toes; it is for this reason that we tap with the fingertips, to stimulate these connecting points.
  4. Many of the EFT tapping points are actually points located at the very beginning or very end of a meridian. It has been taught for thousands of years that these particular points located at the end of the meridians have greater than average ability to transfer and move energy. This movement of energy takes place not only in the meridian that is being tapped, but the meridian that is connected to the meridian that is being tapped.

For your information, those tapping points that are actually beginning or ending points are these:

  1. EYE BROW (EB) – This is the SECOND POINT of the Bladder meridian. The second point is used because the FIRST POINT is immediately next to the eyeball, in the eye socket. Tapping on this point could be dangerous to the eye. It is not common in acupuncture practice to insert a needle in the first point, and is far more common to use the second point as though it was the first.
  2. SIDE of EYE (SE) – This is the FIRST POINT of the Gall Bladder meridian.
  3. UNDER the EYE (UE) – This is the SECOND POINT of the Stomach meridian. The second point is used because the FIRST POINT is immediately below the eyeball, in the eye socket. Tapping on this point could be dangerous to the eye. It is not common in acupuncture practice to insert a needle in the first point, and is far more common to use the second point as though it was the first.
  4. UNDER the NOSE (UN) – This is the LAST POINT of the DU or Governing Vessel meridian. This meridian has even more direct and especially powerful connections to the brain, greater than the others that also connect to the brain internally.
  5. CHIN (CH) – This is the LAST POINT of the REN or Conception Vessel meridian. This meridian has even more direct and especially powerful connections to the brain, greater than the others than the others that also connect to the brain internally.
  6. COLLARBONE (CB) – This is the LAST POINT of the Kidney meridian.
  7. UNDER the ARM (UA) – This is the LAST POINT of the Spleen meridian.

When these points are tapped with the fingertips, where the same or other meridians also either begin or end, it is taught that this is very stimulating to the system of energy flow.

Unfortunately, not many acupuncture meridian charts also show the internal connection of these meridians. Of special interest to anyone doing EFT, is the fact that each of the 12 meridians that travel over the surface of the body also connect internally with the brain. It is this interconnectedness of the meridians to each other and to the brain that explains how and why EFT influences brain function and the emotions.
